史的には東大は封建制のときの幕府の学問所を起源としている。
慶應義塾はハーバード大学のカリキュラム移入を起源としている。

ルイ・ヴィトン・ジャパンの社長は誰だと思う？慶応ＯＢの人だよ。
はじめはヴィトン創始者の一族（フランス人）が候補だったが
そのひと銀行家だから、マーケティングとか小売のことわからな
かったらしい。それではダメだ、ということで今の慶応ＯＢの方が
ヴィトン社長。これ聞いたら、大半の女性は慶応ブランドに心を奪わ
れるよね。ブランドといえばヴィトンや慶応大学。ほとんどの女性は
そんなイメージもってるから。ほんと悔しいけど、スマートにおいしい
ところつまみ食いする慶応だよね。まあ、東大も将軍としていろいろと
好き勝手にやりたい放題だけどさ、圧倒的な権力・支配力を握ってるから。
慶応がヴィトンでくるなら、東大はＪＡＬだね。ＪＡＬの社長さんは
東大法学部卒だから。

東京大 初代総長 渡辺 洪基 （慶應義塾出身）

1847～1901年 (弘化4年～明治34年) 初代東京帝国大学総長。
府中善行寺町 (現、武生市相生町) に生まれる。医師渡辺静庵の長男。
府中の立教館、福井の済世館で学んだ後、18歳で江戸に出て佐倉の佐藤舜海に師事。
慶應義塾卒業後、会津で英学校を開く。
1870年 (明治3年) 24歳で外務省に入り、翌年岩倉具視らの遣欧使節に随行し、帰国後太政官・外務省・司法省に勤務。
1885年 (明治18年) 39歳で東京府知事となり、翌年東京帝国大学の創設とともに初代総長となる。
後、オーストラリア公使、衆議院議員、貴族院議員、政友会設立委員となる。

慶應：「大学」部発足時に、学部教育の内容としてハーバード大学から主任教授招聘。

東大初代総長も慶應義塾出身。西洋のスタンド－ドを取り入れるという点で
東大は慶應よりも極めて遅れていた。
