A decade ago or so, Waseda is a bit known to people living outside
of Japan. But recently the name of Waseda University is rarely heard
among us, even among highly educated people, say, in business,
academies and journalism. The University of Tokyo’s name is
relatively familiar with us as Todai, the pinnacle of Japanese
university entrance exams, because it has produced lots of bureaucrats,
who we know has huge power, not because it is academically advanced.
Few Todai graduates I’ve ever met speak English well; their behavior
is non-confident; their presentation and negotiation skills are
remarkably poor. The name of Keio University has been increasingly
familiar to top people in foreign countries partly because Prime
Minister Koizumi is a graduate of the University and primarily
because most of the Keio people speak English well and they are very
diplomatic and easier to negotiate with.

こっちの方が思考プロセスがわかりやすい
